Description
There are miles of landscape in the Kohala region of the Big Island of Hawai'i that look like this. I converted this to black and white for a more dramatic effect.

I love it because it really makes the tree stand by itself in the otherwise empty area. You are so good, Ellen, at this. (and yes, I found my own messages to you, but not yours, lol.)

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.

I used to drive by this scene everyday on my way to work while I lived in Waikoloa. At one point I stopped to photograph the exact same composition. I love your black and white interpretation!
Ellen Cotton replied:
Wow! That's amazing, Christopher! Before we moved to the Puna area, we stayed at Paniolo Greens a few times and this tree always caught my attention. I think the landscape has changed now sadly. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments!!
